Set up Karoo Live

This page builds your personal share link and a one-line command that loads your settings onto the Karoo. Everything stays in this browser tab: nothing you type here is sent anywhere.

Haven't made your Firebase database yet? Follow the setup guide first (about 10 minutes, free).

1. Your details

From Firebase → Realtime Database (top of the Data tab).
From Firebase → Project settings → General.
Only if you also use k2tracker.drakey.co.uk. The page then falls back to Hammerhead's tracking when your Firebase feed is quiet.

2. Your share link

Send this to friends and family. It stays the same for every ride.

3. Install and load settings on the Karoo

With the Karoo connected by USB and adb working (see the guide), run these from the folder where you downloaded karoo-live.apk:

Fill in all the details above.

The settings code contains your Firebase password in readable (base64) form. Don't post it publicly. Use a password made just for this, not your Google password.

Prefer typing on the Karoo? Open Karoo Live in the app list and fill in the same fields. The share link is then shown on the Karoo with a QR code.
